After meeting with Gary for just one week, we could see that not only was he helping her physically, but he was also helping her with the mental aspect of being an athlete. After weeks of frustration, she was beginning to have hope that she would recover from the injury and actually become stronger. Gary was able to challenge her, but yet be sensitive to her physical limitations; constantly checking to make sure what she was doing wasn’t causing her pain. He is so flexible with his schedule, always wanting to put the client’s convenience first. We have seen that after spending a sessions with Gary, she comes away more motivated to work hard at achieving top physical performance. We highly recommend Gary and Tiger Coaching for anyone wishing to improve their sports performance or for an athlete returning from an injury. His personal care and interest in the athlete is outstanding.
We are so thankful for finding Gary and the part he has played in helping our daughter through an injury and definitely plan to continue to use him to help her achieve her top athletic performance. Thank you so much Gary!

Gary is serious about fitness, but still has a sense of humor. He knows a ton about the latest research in fitness and is great at challenging me while paying careful attention to my limits. This is a really positive experience for me which is why, after the first 2 months, I decided to signed up for another year.

Gary comes to my home twice a week. He was able to tailor a fitness program using the limited equipment I have in my basement. He is professional, reliable and knowledgeable. As a stay at home mom I could always find ten million other things that needed to be done before I would work out(meaning I would never work out). Having my appointments with Gary keeps me on track with my exercise program.
Gary is the person to hire if you are looking for a personal trainer. He is always appropriate and accommodating. He caters your fitness program to your level and goals. He is what every certified personal trainer should be!

Let me begin by stating that prior to meeting Gary, I have never used a Personal Trainer. Why would I need a trainer to show me what I could figure out on my own? Right? Wrong!
After meeting with Gary twice, I realized how much I didn't understand about my own body and its needs.
On our first appointment I was ready to start pumping iron and begin my process of melting the pounds away. Instead, Gary began by explaining to me the dynamics of good nutrition habits, weight lifting and a balanced cardio routine. He has taught me weight lifting techniques, which has made me more comfortable in the weight room. Gary gave me guidelines on how to eat healthy when I'm away from home and helpful tips for grocery shopping. This was way more than I expected.
My program was designed specifically for me, and each time we meet we discuss our game plan. He has a sincere interest in my progress, and helps me remain patient. In today's society we want a "quick fix". Gary has taught me PATIENCE and PERSEVERANCE pays off. After six weeks of training, I started seeing definition in my muscles. I am so excited! It takes a lot of hard work, commitment, and dedication, but Gary makes it FUN!
I highly recommend Gary. He is a Professional that is committed to you and your GOALS. My sessions with Gary are focused and during that time, I am his only client.
With Gary, your success is his success!

When my brother completed his first triathlon, I told myself I had to push myself, I was not going to be outdone by my brother, and I silently resented the fact that he had completed one before me. I ordered the same computer software that he had used to train, and started setting up training schedules according to the software's guidelines. Right away I was completely overwhelmed. I went from my usual 40 minute runs, to massive 1 1/2 hour runs. My body ached and cried for mercy. Biking wasn't as torturous, bu swimming was a massive problem for a person who hadn't swam a lap since high school. I found that the computer suggestions were nearly impossible to finish in reality.
Within two weeks, I was ready to quit, triathlon seemed completely out of my grasp. I called my brother, and he told me not to panic, but find someone who could give me swimming lessons. I called my local YMCA, and although they didn't have a regular instructor available, after hearing my dilemma, they referred me to Gary Bredehoft. In January of 2000, I met and sat down with Gary to solve my training problems, and he remains to be trainer to this date.
Gary calmed my raging fears. He analyzed my current fitness level, my background in running, and worked with me to build a workout regime that would not only fit into my hectic work schedule, but enable me to walk without pain up my apartment stairs after it was over. By doing simple calculations, we found that I had been exercising at a much too high heart rate, and Gary worked with me to bring it down to an acceptable level. He went to the pool with me, and straightened out a stroke that resembled something of a dead man's float. He analyzed my food intake of popcorn and cereal and made some suggestions to help balance my diet, and get the most of my foods. He completely guided me into the world of triathlon and followed me along its course when I hit some bumps.
This summer I completed one dualthon, three sprint triathlons, and one Olympic distance triathlon, topping off the season with a 9th place finish in the 30-34 age group at the Mrs. T's Triathlon in Chicago. Not only was it rewarding personally, but I felt like I was in the best shape of my life. I attribute this to the structured, balanced regime that Gary created for me. By lowering my heart rate, bringing my schedule to a manageable level, and slowly changing training intervals and times, fitness became so easy and fun. My body responded to the exercise and training, and my mind turned a mental corner. What had seemed the impossible, had become the possible.

Client Feedback!I met Gary in the fall of 1996 when I enrolled in a YMCA clinic on triathlon training. Gary was the coordinator and coach of those enrolled in the clinic. At the time I was not a runner. I could not swim further than 25 yards. I did not even own a bicycle. Without Gary's method of coaching and encouragement I doubt I would have stuck it out that first year or progressed to where I am today. Gary is very knowledgeable in all areas related to triathlon training. He has a good background in running, biking and swimming as well as other related activities such as resistance training, flexibility and nutrition. Most importantly, he understands how to coordinate all of the various activities so that progressive training, rest and recovery lead to improved fitness. I believe Gary's greatest strength is in his ability to assess a persons fitness, understand their goals and limitations and then design a program specific to that individual that allows them to train and achieve those goals. Gary's pupils rarely suffer the overuse injuries one often sees in endurance athletes. "Burnout" is not a problem. There is always a large "dose" of fun in the programs he designs. By the close of the summer of 1997, I had competed in several road races including a half marathon and a full marathon. I completed numerous triathlons, including several at the Olympic distance; something I would not have thought possible back in the Fall of '96. I have continued to work with Gary, off and on, over the past several years. I still seek his advice on most aspects of my training. Most recently, I had the opportunity to train with Gary as both of us prepared for the 2000 Ironman Canada. The result was that I improved my time from the 1999 Ironman USA by 48 minutes. I believe Gary is an excellent coach, with a great amount of knowledge, but always looking to learn more and try new ideas. I would recommend him as a coach/personal trainer to anyone wishing to develop a fitness program, cross-training or looking to compete in triathlons.
